What Type of Pool Filter Should I Use

There a three primary types of swimming pool filters used today; DE Filters, Cartridge Filters, and Sand Filters.  Selecting the right pool filter depends on the application in which the filter will be used.  Major manufactures of pool filters like Pentair, Hayward, and Jandy provide filters in all three categories to assist you in selecting the proper type and size for your pool.  In general terms DE filters offer the best filtration followed by cartridge filters and lastly sand filters.  However, filtration performance alone should not be the only consideration when selecting your pool filter.
